Tuesday, May 12, at 7 pm behind City Hall – budget vote at the Newport News City Council meeting
Newport News City Council will vote on its proposed operating budget – which includes the NNPS schools operating budget – at their next regular Council meeting on Tuesday, May 12, at 7 pm at City Council Chambers behind City Hall (2400 Washington Ave., 23609). Please join the NNEA in #Red4Ed at the meeting to support full funding for our public schools! The Council meetings typically last an hour or less.
Tuesday, May 19, at 6:30 pm at the NNPS Admin Building – May Newport News School Board meeting at 12465 Warwick Blvd., 23606
Local elected officials seeing NNEA members and supporters in #Red4Ed at School Board and City Council meetings makes a BIG impact in support of our union, workers rights for NNPS employees and city workers, and funding for our public schools.
Please note that Newport News City Council will soon be considering collective bargaining rights for city workers — possibly as early as June. Please join us at meetings in #Red4Ed in support of labor rights for ALL Newport News public sector workers – teachers & staff, firefighters & police officers, city workers, etc. NNEA will keep you informed about when the vote will be.
