NNEA #RedforEd and Spring Mixer information

NNEA Spring Mixer on Friday, April 10

The NNEA’s Spring Mixer will be Friday, April 10, at 5 pm at Chef’s Market in City Center, Newport News. This is a great opportunity to connect, relax, and enjoy good food with fellow members. All current NNEA members will receive $10 toward their meal. We also encourage you to bring a guest such as a non-union colleague, friend, or partner. We’ll share information with prospective members about the benefits, resources, and support that NNEA provides. Please RSVP by April 3, 2026. We look forward to seeing you there!

****Red4Ed Meeting Dates in February****

Join the NNEA in #Red4Ed at these upcoming February meeting dates to show support for the NNEA, for public school funding, and for stronger contracts / collective bargaining rights for NNPS employees:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 10, 7 pm – #Red4Ed at the NN City Council meeting at City Council Chambers behind City Hall (2400 Washington Avenue, 23609)
  • Tuesday, Feb. 17, 6:30 pm – #Red4Ed at the NN School Board meeting at 12465 Warwick Blvd., 23606
  • Tuesday, Feb. 17, 4:30 pm – #Red4Ed at the City’s Finance Committee meeting on the 10th floor of City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, 23609. Please note that this meeting is immediately before the School Board meeting on the same night – collective bargaining for city workers will be on the agenda so we would like NNEA there in #Red4Ed in solidarity. If you can’t attend the School Board meeting but are available earlier in the afternoon, please join us in Red!

(Please note that we have decided to skip the Jan. 27 City Council meeting and focus on the February 10 City Council meeting, when the city’s proposed CIP budget is likely to be on the agenda. (The CIP budget is the building construction and repair budget, which includes funding for NNPS buildings.))
