November 18 Newport News School Board Meeting

At the Newport News School Board meeting on Tuesday, November 18th, NNEA members including NNEA President Dr. James Graves spoke during public comments in support of contract negotiations / collective bargaining rights for NNPS employees and in support of a better sick leave bank option, a sick leave donation policy for employees enduring medical crises, and protections for vulnerable LGBTQ+ students amidst outgoing Gov. Youngkin’s discriminatory model guidance. Please see minute marks 1:18:58 (Dr. Graves) and 38:18.

NNPS employees, if you have not yet signed the NNEA authorization card in support of contract negotiations, please click on the “Collective Bargaining” tab on this website. Next month we will gather in #Red4Ed in support of the NNEA and in support of collective bargaining for NNPS employees and city employees at the Dec. 9 NN City Council meeting at 7 pm at Midtown Community Center and at the Dec. 16 NN School Board meeting at 6:30 pm at the NNPS Admin Building.
