Many thanks to United Steelworkers Local 8888, IBEW Local 1340, NALC Local 609, and the Tidewater Workers Assembly for joining the NNEA in solidarity in support of collective bargaining rights for NNPS teachers and staff at the Newport News School Board meeting on Tuesday. NNEA members spoke in support of contract negotiations and in support of the School Board working with the union to advocate for school funding for the benefit of students and the community; against excessive meetings outside of contract hours for new teachers; for an employee sick leave bank; and for bimonthly pay for NNPS employees. Many community members spoke in support of contract negotiations as well.
You can help the NNEA win collective bargaining by joining us in #Red4Ed at 5:45 pm before the next School Board meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 21. You can also assist by emailing School Board members and City Council members at the email addresses below in support of collective bargaining for public employees.
